Add QQ Mail or Foxmail using an authorization code

Before you begin

• Use a personal QQ Mail or Foxmail mailbox you control. Tencent business mail needs its own administrator-provided settings.
• Be able to sign in to QQ webmail and complete the verification shown for that account.
• Have NodeMail installed on a supported Mac and choose a working connection for the mailbox.

Set up in NodeMail

1. In desktop QQ webmail, open the profile menu, then Settings → Account and security → Security settings. Locate the POP3/IMAP/SMTP service controls; labels can vary.
2. Enable the mail protocol service, then generate an authorization code. Complete the account-specific verification requested by QQ.
3. Record the generated 16-character code and give it a recognizable note for this client. It is the credential you will enter in NodeMail.
4. In NodeMail Settings, add an email account. Enter the full QQ or Foxmail address and choose QQ Mail / Foxmail.
5. Select Password / App Password and enter the authorization code. Choose Direct, Clash Node or Manual SOCKS5, then check the preset below.
6. Click Save Account and wait for verification. Check the inbox and send a test message to an address you control to confirm both connections.

Server settings

Manage the authorization code

QQ webmail provides code management under Account and security → Device management → Authorization code management. Invalidating a code stops the clients using it from connecting.

Keep the code private. When requesting help, share the mailbox provider, NodeMail version and redacted error message, not the authorization code or verification credentials.

Use the matching mailbox preset

The table describes NodeMail’s personal QQ Mail / Foxmail defaults. Do not reuse it for Tencent business mail or substitute POP parameters for IMAP.

Saving verifies the connection; it does not guarantee delivery to every recipient. Inspect the actual error when a server rejects a message instead of repeatedly changing account credentials.

Troubleshooting

The password is rejected

The client needs the generated authorization code. A QQ login password or a code used during identity verification is not the mailbox authorization code. Check that the service is enabled for the address you entered.

The account stopped working after a password change

Changing the account password expires authorization codes. Generate a new code and update the existing NodeMail account instead of adding the same mailbox again.

The new-account form has no QQ setup-browser button

NodeMail currently provides dedicated setup-browser actions for Gmail and Microsoft only. Generate the QQ credential in webmail first, then enter it in App Password.

Messages arrive but sending fails

Check SMTP host, port 465, SSL/TLS and the authorization code separately. A web page loading through a proxy does not prove that the route allows the SMTP connection.
