NodeMail is built to keep your mail on your Mac. This page explains, in plain language, what the app stores and what it sends.
What stays on your Mac
Your mail, account settings and the local cache live in a database on your Mac. The cache stays readable offline and keeps a reconciled 30-day window with your servers. None of your mail content is uploaded to us.
What we collect
NodeMail has no mail-content analytics. The app communicates with your mail providers and with the proxy nodes you configure — not with us. We do not receive copies of your messages, contacts or credentials.
Passwords and tokens
Account passwords and OAuth tokens are stored only in the macOS Keychain, never in the mail database. Microsoft accounts use a persistent embedded browser identity so sign-ins stay separate per account.
Network traffic
Mail is fetched and sent directly between your Mac and your providers — through the dedicated node each account is bound to, or directly in no-proxy mode. We operate neither your providers nor your nodes.
Deleting your data
Removing a mail account in NodeMail deletes that account's Keychain entries and local database records. Deleting the app alone does not delete NodeMail data stored outside the app bundle, including remaining Keychain items and ~/Library/Application Support/NodeMail. Before uninstalling, remove mail accounts and saved proxy nodes in the app, then manually delete that Application Support directory to remove its remaining cache and data.
