Manage multiple mailboxes in one Mac workspace

NodeMail brings mailbox accounts, folders, the message list and the reading pane into one native Mac workspace. Switch between one mailbox and All Mailboxes without treating their credentials, routes or sync states as a single account.

Before you begin

  • Use the current NodeMail release on a supported Mac. The workspace adapts to available window width.
  • Add each mailbox with the credential and server settings its provider permits; website sign-in does not connect your mailboxes.
  • Check the current plan before adding another mailbox. The Free plan supports one mailbox; additional mailbox access depends on your active entitlement.

Set up in NodeMail

  1. Add the first mailbox in Settings and complete its provider-specific setup. Verify receiving and sending before adding the next account.
  2. Repeat with the next authorized mailbox when your plan permits it. Check its provider and connection choice independently.
  3. Select a mailbox in the account pane to work in that account’s scope. Use the folder pane to choose the mailbox folder or category you need.
  4. Select All Mailboxes to view the aggregate mailbox scope. Check the account indicators when reading messages from different accounts.
  5. Use the message-list search field to search locally available mail in the current scope. Clear the search when you want to return to the unfiltered list.
  6. Open a message in the reading pane. Use Reply, Reply All or Forward from that message; check the displayed sender before sending a new message.

Keep mailbox identity visible

The single-account scope focuses the folder and message views on that mailbox. All Mailboxes aggregates across accounts while retaining message account context.

Replies and forwards originate from the selected message’s account. New messages still require you to check the sender and recipients; a shared workspace does not merge mailbox identities.

Read cached mail with its sync state

Local data lets you browse available messages without equating the visible list with a fresh server response. Authentication failures, unavailable proxies or provider limits can affect accounts separately.

A locally visible message does not mean a new message can be sent while offline. Verify the outgoing connection and inspect failures instead of assuming every action has reached the provider.

Separate desktop mail from the website account

The NodeMail website account manages sign-in and plan entitlement. The mailbox accounts you add in the desktop app use their own credentials and connections.

Mailbox content and local settings remain on your Mac as described in the privacy policy. This page does not promise a shared cloud inbox, team collaboration, or synchronization of NodeMail’s local workspace across Macs.

Troubleshooting

A message is missing from the aggregate view

Select its individual mailbox and check the folder and connection state. Clear search and filters, then check whether that account has refreshed. All Mailboxes can show cached data while individual accounts have different sync results.

Search does not find an older message

The workspace searches locally available mail. Confirm the current account scope, selected folder and filters, and allow the relevant mailbox to synchronize before assuming the server has no matching message.

One mailbox fails while others work

Check that account’s authentication, provider policy and route. Other connected mailboxes do not prove that its password, token, IMAP access or SMTP permissions are valid.

Another mailbox cannot be added

Check your plan and entitlement state, and whether the address is already saved. Edit the existing account to repair its settings rather than adding a duplicate.

The workspace has less room than expected

Widen the window or use the available pane controls. The layout can collapse panes at smaller widths; four panes do not have to remain visible at every window size.
